5.0 and 5.5 Metre Scandinavian Rowing Skiffs. Designs #272 and #272A
There is an undeniable appeal to Norwegian rowboats whose model goes back a good thousand years to Viking days. They can be exquisite examples of the boat builders art so it is understandable perhaps that most designers of small boats receive regular requests for modernized versions of these boats. This one at 5 metres overall length (about 16ft) is drawn for four strakes of 6mm plywood. The lines strike a balance between stability and ease of rowing, this should be a good all-round boat and an eye catcher anywhere.
Lines and offsets for a larger 5.5 metres (18ft) version of this plan are included in the plan set. Design number for this boat is 272A
