15 ft River Fal Punt, Design #31
The traditional small workboat of the Fal Estuary (Cornwall, UK). This is an ideal project for the traditional builder looking for a challenge. The construction is carvel planking on small grown oak frames (natural crooks). Regular steam bent frames can be used here if grown oak is unavailable, but the plans show the original nineteenth century technique and are fairly unique in that regard. This is an excellent project for skill building and the boat makes a useful small dayboat that can be used with oars, sail or outboard motor.
